The strange things we remember
A boy whom I went to high school with once said that there are two kinds people: those who pour ketchup directly on their french fries and those who pour it on the side. I remember this statement every time a plate fries is before me. I must admit, I waver between the two alternatives! What does it mean? What does it all mean?

I usually put the ketchup on the side, but on Saturday night I got fries to go from the kebab place down the street and the man behind the counter thought he was doing me a favor by putting the ketchup on top for me (I guess they didn't have little packets to go.) Anyway, by the time I'd eaten 1/3 of the fries, the ketchup was all gone and the lonely bottom layer of fries were all alone. I don't know what any of this means except that I prefer my ketchup on the side.
Also, oh lord, I owe you the world's longest email response. I don't even know how I will begin to tell you all that I want to, which is I think why the task is weighing on me and I'm refusing to just write something. I have 3 papers due within the next 3 days but by gosh I swear you will have a novel in your inbox by this weekend. Or at least the beginning of a novel.
Loving & missing you very much from London.
After some recent discussions, I think "ketchup on the side" is the majority opinion. Can't wait for your e-mail!
